EvideX Logo

Welcome to EvideX

EvideX is built specifically to handle the demands of law enforcement digital evidence workflows. Whether you are managing body cam footage, dash cam videos, or PDF reports, our platform ensures your files are securely stored, strictly auditable, and easily retrievable.

This documentation page outlines our complete, transparent pricing model so you know exactly how to budget for your department's data needs.

Detailed Pricing Breakdown

We believe in absolute transparency. EvideX charges based on the total volume of data stored and the operational requests made to that data. We do not charge for data transfer out (Egress) or for processing the retrieval of your files.

Item Cost Description
Platform Base Fee $17.00 / mo Flat monthly fee for platform access, account management, and retention automation.
Storage $0.017 / GB Per month. (Subject to a minimum $5/mo storage fee threshold).
Class A Operations $4.50 / million Cost per 1,000,000 requests. See below for definitions.
Class B Operations $0.36 / million Cost per 1,000,000 requests. See below for definitions.
Data Retrieval FREE No charge for the compute power used to fetch and process your data.
Egress (Outbound Transfer) FREE Zero fees for downloading data from the cloud to your local machine.

Technical Note: For billing purposes, 1 GB is strictly defined as 1,000,000,000 bytes.

Understanding Operation Classes

When you interact with the EvideX system (uploading, viewing, or searching for evidence), backend operations occur. These are broken into two categories:

Class A Operations ($4.50 / Million)

Class A operations typically involve writing, modifying, or listing data. In the context of evidence management, these occur when you:

  • Upload a new piece of evidence (PUT, POST).
  • Initiate a large multi-part video upload.
  • List the contents of a case folder (LIST).
  • Modify the metadata or category of an existing file.

Class B Operations ($0.36 / Million)

Class B operations are primarily read operations. These occur much more frequently but are significantly cheaper. Examples include:

  • Opening a case to view a video or photo (GET).
  • The system checking if a file exists before applying a retention rule (HEAD).
  • Retrieving the metadata for a specific evidence log.

Data Retrieval & Egress (Free)

Data Retrieval (Processing): This refers to the backend server effort required to package and prepare your files when requested. Many cloud providers charge for this—EvideX does not.

Egress: This refers to data transfer out to the internet. When you download a 5GB body cam video for court, you pay zero egress fees. You pay only for the Class B (GET) request, which is a microscopic fraction of a cent.

Pricing Calculation Example

Let's look at how storage costs are calculated over a month using a practical example of a small department's evidence load.

Example: 1,000 GB of Storage

If your department stores exactly 1,000 object files, and each file is exactly 1 GB in size, your calculation looks like this:

  • (1,000 objects) * (1 GB per object) = 1,000 GB-months
  • 1,000 GB * $0.017/GB = $17.00 Storage Cost
  • + Platform Base Fee = $17.00
  • Total Monthly Base = $34.00

* Note: This total does not include the negligible fractions of a cent generated by Class A/B operations to originally upload or view those files.

Billing Terms & Conditions

We keep our business model as straightforward as our software.

  • No Contracts: All EvideX services are month-to-month. We do not lock agencies into multi-year commitments.
  • Monthly Billing: You are billed at the end of each billing cycle based strictly on your usage during that period.
  • No Long-Term Discounts: To keep our base pricing as low as possible for all departments, we do not offer discounts for longer contracts. Every agency gets our best price on day one.
  • No Hidden Fees: There are no setup fees, per-user seat fees, or arbitrary licensing costs.
  • Taxes: All prices listed are exclusive of applicable state and local taxes, which will be calculated and added to your final invoice if your agency is not tax-exempt.
